M.S.S. Kids In The Halls

MSS students are staying busy! This week, prom dates were announced, Spymaster kicked off and there have been yearbook updates. Let鈥檚 take a look.

Tuesday, June 14 is set to be unforgettable with the MSS graduates鈥 prom night. This year, the prom is being held at the Aundeck Omni Kaning 4-Directions Complex from 5:30 to 10 pm. The complex will be used as a dance floor, equipped with sparkling lights and decorations. Along with the dancing, there will be a dinner served for the graduates and their guests. Prom is a great way to celebrate the incredible accomplishment of graduating and make a few more memories with your peers before high school is over. Additionally, the Prom Project is reopening to provide free, gently used dance-wear to students in need.

Speaking of school memories, the yearbook team is inviting all graduates to fill out a form with the information they want in the yearbook. The yearbook team has been collecting photos, quotes and personal messages that will preserve the experiences of the 2023-2024 school year. Grade 12 students are encouraged to submit a yearbook quote, future career goals, nicknames and more. These will accompany their graduation photos and remind students of their peers鈥 personalities.

The robotics team鈥檚 monthly Staying in Touch sessions are returning! After a busy competition season, Manitoulin Metal is ready to connect with the community. Once a month at the Mindemoya Public Library, students from the team help community members learn how to use their electronic devices. These sessions have been run monthly for almost a year, helping several community members learn how to call their family, set up a tablet, surf the web and much more.

Spymaster officially kicked off on Tuesday, May 21. Since then, students and staff have been racing, sneaking and hiding in the hallways to avoid getting 鈥減inned.鈥 For those unfamiliar, Spymaster is a schoolwide game where players get a clothespin and someone as a target. They then must pin the clothespin to the target without them noticing. Once you successfully pin your target, they are eliminated and you get their current target. The game continues until there is one person left standing. The highly anticipated event does have some rules, though. You cannot pin your target in class, on the bus or in the bathroom. At the end, the winner of the competition will win a prize. Good luck to all participants!

From the strategic challenge of Spymaster, to the glamour of prom, to the creative process of the yearbook, MSS has something for everyone. That is all for this week! Until next time, go, Mustangs, go!
