Letters: Lack of mental health resources fails the disabled in need

There are those whose cries for help continue to go unanswered

To the Expositor:

How do I start this?

The injustice in social and economics where is the justice? Some get help for those who are able to walk and move about without the need of mechanical devices (wheelchairs.) There are those in need of special help to and from wheelchairs, bathroom, bathroom needs, to get dressed, basic life-giving needs. I鈥檓 sure there are many out there looking and trying to get help. I am writing in particular of one person, so when I am writing from one I am writing for all.

My grandniece with A.M.C. arthrogryposis multiplex congenita. She is house bound, wheelchair in a house that is not equipped for disabled. She has issues, she wants help, she鈥檚 asking for help. My sister who is her caregiver needs help, my grandniece also has drug and mental issues; suicidal, drugs, I don鈥檛 know what kind, but she鈥檚 the one who鈥檚 asking for help.

Apparently, our resources here say they cannot accommodate her because of her special needs. Can鈥檛 or don鈥檛 want to hire extra staff for her needs. The injustice of economics; one person wants help and calling out for it turned away on account of money. The social injustice of it is she spends her days in a house with cell phone, computer, tablet, TV. This all she鈥檚 got for the day, special needs or problems here for the mental and disabled? Don鈥檛 know or heard of any, but again that requires money and the hiring of extra help. There is more and on-going issues. But my main concern is my grandniece who is crying out and asking for help!
